A Colour Challenge

I have made two cards today for a colour challenge over at Pootles. The colours to play with are smoky slate, so saffron, pool party and pink pirouette. I have never done a colour challenge before.

Luckily for me the challenge stated that you could use all of the colours or some of the colours. I went with some of the colours, and added three more colours ( soft suede, crumb cake & sahara sand) for the beautiful baby bear image, I do hope that is OK and within the parameters of the challenge. I am thinking it's not but at least it got me fired up, thinking and creating instead of cruising pinterest and other peoples blogs lol!

Anywhoo......

The base of each card is smoky slate CS, (yes a bit hard to see in the photos but it is there) then layered with either pool party or pink pirouette, then a whisper white layer that the bear was stamped onto directly. I added the so saffron in the little flags/bunting. I punched  the flags out of some retired colour stacks dsp  with the small banner punch. They were popped up with dimensionals and some linen thread is behind them.

Start your engines..........

Hello "blurfers" I hope you have been keeping warm and dry today in cold and wet Melbourne. A great day to be crafting if you ask me and that is what I have been doing.

What do you think of my cool car? We have a real cool car in our garage that my hubby did up. It's  not the same model as this one, hubby's is a bit younger than this one but cool none the less. It has lots of "grunt" as they say. I have had this stamp forever, I believe it's a Kaisercraft stamp  from a set called On the Move.

I made this card for my hubby's birthday on the 28th June. I have made many cards over the years for him with this car image. All of them different. I will have to locate all of them and take photos to compare just how different they are. I hand coloured the image with coloured pencils and attempted to add shading...... I did say attempted to do shading, there is none as far as I can see. I will have to work on that, early days as far as colouring and I go people, so relax!

Once again I made a double z fold card, I believe that's what they are called. The super talented and amazingly creative Amanda from The Craft Spa has made a heap of this style card. Yes my hubby did like his card very much and he had a lovely day. My girl made her dad a birthday cake.....a lemon meringue pie! It's his fave so instead of the traditional birthday cake we have a policy in our house to make the birthday persons fave cake or dessert. So over the years we've had requests for  cheese cake, apple pie, apple crumble, orange cake, chocolate cake, ice-cream cake, fruit flan and the list goes on. What kinds of birthday cakes do you have?

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground....

Hello blog surfers, or as I like to refer to myself when I am blog surfing a "blurfer" so  hello "blurfers"lol.

OK so back to the post title, "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground..." does anyone else remember this rhyme from when they were at school? Yes? No? Maybe?

My newly arrived crafting goodies arrived this morning....YEAH, doing happy dance, well not now but I did when it arrived. So first to get inked up was this gorgeous stamp from Stampin'Up, Baby Bear. I have been haunting pinterest of late and was inspired by the lovely Amanda from The Craft Spa, click on her name to see her card that I basically copied, although I made a taller card than Amanda.  I had lots of practices getting the right combination of three brown inks to come up with this baby. I finally settled on, chocolate chip, sift suede & crumb cake.

The 3-step stamping is easy if you line up your images just so. It's simple with the photo-polymer stamps to do this. The 3 stamps are numbered. I practiced in the order stampin up suggested, 1, 2 & 3. It wasn't quite lining up for me along the bottom edge for me. Then I remembered watching a video on Stamp and Scrap with Frenchie and she mentioned that she found it easier to stamp first with the number 3 stamp and work in the reverse order. I hope that makes sense. I tried that and it lined up perfectly for me every time.

 I hope you can see from the image below that the head appears to have dimension, that's because I cut his head off ( shock horror!!!!) but I stuck it back on I really did. I  popped it up on dimensionals to give a bit of "3-D ness" ( yes this is a word!)

And one last photo for you. I used lost lagoon CS and ink and ribbon as well as the 3 brown colours mentioned earlier.

Craft stash holders

Hello on this fine and sunny day. Don't let that sun fool you, it's still very chilly here in Melbourne, after all it's our winter.

Well as you can see I have been very busy making holders for my crafting stash. I have made ten of these beauties in three different sizes. I spied the most wonderful video tutorials on Pootles. Sam from Pootles has done a whole series of posts, with video tutorials on I think  four  different sized versions of these. She is absolutely brilliant! All her videos are about twelve minutes long, all measurements are given out during the tutorial and are also written on her blog. I made two extra large thinlets holders, three framelits holders and five embossing folder holders. Click on the highlighted words to take you directly to those posts for the video tutorials and measurements.

Yes I made five embossing folder holders! Don't call Hoarders just yet, two are holding said embossing folders, one is for holding stampin up pearls, another for holding diamante/rhinestones and one for holding linen thread and bakers twine ( the bakers twine wrapped on card). What do you think of the DSP? I think  it's pretty awesome. I liked the bright mat behind the dsp, what do your think? It didn't take me long to whip up all ten boxes, probably less than 30 minutes all up, which is not bad if you ask me!
